Thank you so much for your willingness to share your regular tithe with us through a direct deposit giving program.  Direct Deposit giving is good for our parishioners – allowing them to give a prayerful sacrifice to the work of the Church and maintain a consistent giving.  It is also a great benefit to the parish – allowing us to be consistent in our budgeting, prevent gaps from travel or vacations, and saves us considerable overhead in data entry and depositing.  We are so grateful that you have chosen to make your sacrificial gifts to the parish through Direct Deposit tithing.

Our current E-giving platform, NCS services, has served us well.  But after some research, we have found a better provider which is more user friendly and less expensive.  After a lot of research and looking and E-giving firms, we have decided to move our E-giving and Direct Deposit tithing process to a company called operates for the cause of ministry and the spread of the Gospel.  We chose them for ease of use and the ability to give a recurring or one-time gift.  Their fees are also less expensive than our previous vendor.

As we make the transition, we need to ask all of our families with scheduled donations to please delete and transfer their Direct Deposit giving to the new company.  As one of our regular users of E-giving, could you please take a few minutes to help us with this transition by following the directions below?

If you are currently giving through NCS, please first delete your giving with them:

Sign up with for a recurring donation by following this link.  It is simple and easy to create a new account with them and sign up to tithe regularly. The fees are lower if you will use your checking account to directly tithe.  If you use a credit card or debit card, you might consider “covering the fee” so that the parish does not have to pay the fee.  Either way, it is your choice.

Again, to sign up online, simply go to at this link and begin.  You can create your own account from that page in order to manage it.

If you would prefer to simply sign up with over the phone, please call Carla Weimer in the parish business office at 757-595-0385 and have your banking or credit card information ready when you call.

Sing with the Children’s Choir!

This year we have reformatted our children’s choir program in order to better foster the skills of our children. So far it has been a big success!

There are now two smaller choirs that make up the large Children’s Choir grades 1 through 12. Those in grades 1 through 3 are in the Junior Choir and those in grades 4 through 12 are in the Senior Choir. The Junior Choir rehearses on Mondays 6:00pm-7:00pm. The Senior Choir rehearses on Mondays 7:15pm-8:30pm.

The full Children’s Choir sings on the last Sunday of the month at the 10am Mass. They also come together for community outreach events such as singing at local nursing homes. Additionally, the Senior Choir sings with the Adult Choir on the 2nd Sunday of the month.

Most excitingly, those children in the Senior Choir have the opportunity to participate in the 2020 Mid Atlantic Choral Festival and Mass in Baltimore hosted by the American Federation Pueri Cantores. This is a wonderful opportunity to sing and form friendships with other young Catholic singers throughout the region.

The registration form for both sections of the Children’s Choir can be found HERE.
For more information, please contact our Music Coordinator, Johanna Smith, at or by calling the parish office.

Solemnity of the Assumption

August 15 is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a holy day of obligation.  Mass times for the holy day will be:

Wednesday August 14 at 6:30 p.m. (Vigil in English, incense will be used)

Thursday August 15 at 8:05 a.m. (English)

Thursday August 15 at 6:30 p.m. (en Español, incense will be used)

As stated in the Code of Canon Law, on all Sundays and holy days of obligation, the faithful are obliged to participate in Mass. Insofar as possible, they are also to abstain from those works and affairs which hinder the worship to be rendered to God, the joy proper to the Lord’s Day, or the suitable relaxation of mind and body (canon 1247).

New Processional Cross

Our new processional cross made its debut at the 10:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday July 21 as part of our parish feast day celebration.  The making of the new cross was a collaborative effort.  The corpus was purchased through a parishioner’s generous donation.  Made in Italy, it is cast bronze.  The cross and staff are white oak.  The cross was made by Bill Blomstrom and the staff by Jonathan Sargent, two very talented woodworkers in our parish.  The corpus and cross are very similar to those that make up the crucifix over the altar in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.  Many thanks to those who were so generous with their treasure, talent, and time.  This beautiful, new cross will enhance our parish’s liturgies for many years to come.

Incense at Upcoming Masses

Incense will be used at the following upcoming Masses:

Sunday June 2 (The Ascension of the Lord)at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Sunday June 9 (Pentecost Sunday) at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Sunday June 23  (The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ) at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

New Adoration Opportunity – Adorers Needed!

Eucharistic adoration will now be offered on all Wednesdays and Thursdays beginning on Wednesday June 12. Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish will now offer a continuous period of Eucharistic Adoration following the 7 a.m. Mass on Wednesdays until 6 p.m. on Thursdays.  At least two committed adorers per hour  are needed, including the overnight hours.  If you would like to commit to an hour, please e-mail
