Youth Ministry & Confirmation Fall ’19
“When he returned to his disciples he found them asleep. He said to Peter, “So you could not keep watch with me for one hour? Watch and pray that you may not undergo the test. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” ~ Matthew 26:40
While Jesus was focused on preparing for His upcoming Passion and the salvation of mankind, Peter and the other disciples were found asleep. It always surprises me how many instances of the gospel from 2000 years ago still relate today. How often does God have something important happening and we are found sleeping?
The summer can be a blast and involve many wonderful vacations, camps etc. but it has the tendency to get us off track spiritually because we get out of the habit of a daily routine. We become lazy and sleepy regarding the spiritual life. Faith doesn’t simply “happen” but is intentionally grown through relationship with Christ. I challenge you, as the school year begins, to make a commitment to growing in your spiritual life while you grow academically
One way you can do this is by intentionally scheduling time for faith growth. At OLMC, we offer many opportunities for this. See below for the many faith growth opportunities and how to sign up for them. . Make Jesus important because He makes you important every second!
